Without a Plan : An Afternoon Outing and a Meeting With Santa

s-2

My friend Kim and I had agreed to get together last Friday afternoon but had not made any definitive plans as to what we would do. Rather we thought we’d wait to see what we felt like doing when the time came.

I met her at her place where we had a cup of coffee and then we hit the streets. I had a store in mind to get a gift for Nick and she had an errand to run, both of which would mean going over to Yonge Street, so we aimed for that general direction.

Going eastward along King Street West as we did, had us passing right through Toronto’s financial district. That’s where the tallest of the office towers are located, each of which had beautifully decorated lobbies and front areas. The day was relatively warm, as were the spirits of the people we passed along the way.

And look who we ran into. There were no kids around so he let us come up and get a picture with him.

Kim went first …

Then I went up. I look like a giant in this picture because I didn’t want to crush his knee so I sort of just crouched in front of him.

After bidding our farewells, we went on our merry way.

We did have another adventure which I will tell you about in an upcoming post, but I’ll give you a clue in this next picture. It’s the building behind me, which has a very interesting story to tell.  Update:  that post is found here.

Since we were in the vicinity of Kim’s husband’s place of work, we met up with Chris to walk home together.

He suggested we go for a drink and we both quickly said, ‘Sure’. We first tried one place but it was jam packed (Friday evening at Christmas time = very full bars and restaurants) so we went next door. And by chance we ended up sampling a place where, not only did we get a very nice spiked coffee cocktail, but got to see and smell the delicious meals brought past us by the servers. The food looked so good, so we’ve vowed to return there for a meal sometime soon. The restaurant is called N’Awlins.

I have to say that it’s not often that I meet up with a friend with no plan for what we’ll do in mind. But we had such a good time just going with the flow, that I am aiming to have more ‘without a plan’ dates with friends in the future.

Thanks for taking a look. I hope your week has been a good one so far.
