No Sun But Still Fun : A Barbeque in the Rain

rainy-deck

Our friends Chops and Leslie were coming over for dinner on Saturday, and we had suggested that they come early so we could spend a nice summer afternoon out on the deck. And just as they were scheduled to arrive a steady rainfall began and didn’t stop until just before they went home.

So we kept dry by huddling under the awning for a while …

… and then just moved the party inside.

Dinner began with appetizers of these Marinated Cheese, Tomato and Olive Hors D’oeuvres and pieces of cantaloupe.

Then we had skewered beef, mushrooms and baby potatoes, all cooked on the barbeque, with a tossed salad on the side. Oh, and Leslie had a lovely red purse that just needed to be photographed.

Leslie baked a special treat for our dessert, a Peach and Blueberry pie. We heated it up a bit in the oven and served it with some Vanilla ice-cream. You could really taste the flavour of the fresh fruit. So good, and very cute to look at too.

She and I had a coincidental theme going on, in that I had set the table with napkins with butterflies on them, and she topped the pie with butterfly cut-outs.

All in all, in spite of the gloomy weather we had a good time, as we always do with these two long-time friends.

Thank you for taking a look,
