Holiday Decorations at Our Place

If it is something you’re into, you will agree that it is always fun to pull out your box(es) of holiday decorations each year, because you only see the things once a year so you forget what you have in there. It’s always a pleasant surprise, and a little time-capsule of your life, as often we keep Christmas decorations forever.

My personal perusal brought out ornaments from old friends, some whom I still see regularly and others I have lost touch with. It was a fun little trip down memory lane.

Since we have lived in this home for a decade (eep!) I have already decorated it in the past, so I already knew where many of the pieces could be placed. This meant that getting our living room and dining area ready for company took no time at all. Basically I just went around the house hooking things on any knob or hook that would work.

Here’s a handy little trick I use to get extra spots to hang things from our walls, without making any new holes. (1) Remove a picture that is already hanging, that has some room below it for something else to hang. (2) Attach a length of craft wire to the decoration you wish to hang. (3) Twist the wire around the existing nail or hook so the decoration will hang below the original artwork. (4) Rehang your permanent piece.

I use this method all year ’round to hang things on the walls, because I am forever changing around the artwork.

Here are some quicky adornments to our home this year ….

Wishing you a very happy holiday season, if you celebrate at this time of the year. If not, happy Sunday to you :)

Since we are sticking around at home I will be back online with a few posts throughout the holidays, if you’re looking for something to read while things get a little quiet in internet world.

With fond regards,
loulou
