A few weeks ago, in this post, I wrote about the beautiful exhibit curated by comedian and actor Steve Martin, showcasing the work of Canadian painter Lawren Harris, that is hanging at the AGO this summer until September 18th, 2016.
Today I thought I’d show you the excellent pop-up gift shop the gallery set up to accompany the exhibit.
The colours and textures of the decor and items available reflect Lawren Harris’ paintings so well.
Some things are directly related to the art itself, such as phone cases, luggage tags, mugs, umbrellas, greeting cards and jigsaw puzzles, printed with images of the paintings …
Other things relate to the fact that many of his paintings depict landscapes in northern Canada. Those include a Polar Bear Cookie Jar, Mug Holders that look like tree branches, Serving Platters and Coasters made from slices of trees, Napkins and Placemats with a birch-bark print, and Maple Flavoured Lip Balm …
↑ The little suitcase thing is a portable barbecue! ↑
Another category of gifts available were chosen with the predominant colour palette of Harris’ paintings in mind, shades of blue and purple …
There is such a great collections of gifts and souvenirs in this small shop, at a wide range of prices. If you’re in the city, hopefully you’ll be able to see the breathtaking show and then visit the shop, but if you can’t, you can still access this shop via the main gallery. It is located where you exit the exhibit. The AGO is free to get in every Wednesday evening from 6 ’til 9, so you can shop in this charming shop then, and thus become the bearer of great gifts!
Thanks for checking out my blog. I hope you have a great weekend,
