What I Wore : Fancy Night Out

Here are some shots of the outfit I wore out on Friday night, to the Dare to Wear Love fashion show. As I mentioned before, Nick and I had some perfectly suitable outfits to wear to this event, however on the Wednesday preceding the show, we decided to go out and have a little shop along Queen Street West, to see if something special called out to us. We both ended up getting something new, and for me, it was this dress. It was made by En Focus Studio and is a knit jersey with a touch of lycra.

The vintage mohair shawl from Scotland is something Nick’s lovely mother gave me. It was actually a late addition to the outfit, because there was no way I would have imagined going out at night in March in a little black dress, with only a wrap to keep me warm. Luckily it exactly matched my nail polish and sapphire jewellery.

The earrings were a 5th anniversary gift from my beloved, and the pendant is an estate piece that I picked up for myself after I graduated from university, at a shop called Kinnear D’Esterre in Kingston Ontario where I went to school. I loved to browse in that shop though I couldn’t afford to buy. I particularly loved the small showcase at the back of the shop which contained the ‘second-hand’ pieces, they tastefully called ‘Estate’ jewellery. I was totally enchanted by that case of beautiful old jewels with lots of character, and wanted a treasure from there for my own, so once I had begun working I bought the pendant.

The tights I wore are the-best-tights-ever, seriously. I bought them last year but had never taken them out of the package, so was quite delighted to put them on. They are Nine West, were sized for tall women, and are just the right level of opaque. If I hadn’t bought them last year, I would be heading right over to the store I bought them in to get more!

I had originally planned to wear different shoes, however these booties ended up being a ‘must wear’. That’s because I sprained my ankle badly last November and this was the first time I would be out and on my feet for a long period of time wearing dressy shoes since then. These are by Diba and are so comfortable because they are actually made out of stretchy fabric and they just pull on.

So that’s it … my first ‘real’ outfit post. Doing this has given me added admiration for the bloggers who do beautiful creative outfit posts on a regular basis!

In summary: Dress – En Focus Studio , Booties – Diba , Shawl – Vintage , Tights – Nine West , Nail Varnish – Annabelle #122 , Earrings – Hollywood Jewelery, Toronto , Pendant – Kinnear D’Esterre, Kingston

Thanks very much for dropping over :)
