Awaiting the Arrival of His True Love

ed-waiting-03

Here by popular demand, is Eddie (again!). I had thought that by posting some shots of him already this week, that I should ease off on pictures of the cat and fore-go our usual ‘Saturday is Caturday’ post, but you, dear readers, made it clear that Ed is always welcome on this blog. For your love-of-cat, both he and I are thankful.

I took these shots the other day as I was making dinner. Those stairs go down to our entrance way, and since I was the one taking the pictures, it is clearly not me who is being waited for. No, this animal waited there for Nick to get home from work for the better part of an hour. And when that door finally opened, he went bounding down the stairs to chirp his hellos.

I discussed the great love between man and cat with a couple of friends at dinner last night. These ladies know Eddie very well as they have cat-sat with him often. We talked about how, when he sits on Nick, he is all up in his face, almost nose to nose. But when he decides he could sit with me for a spell (which only ever happens when Nick’s lap is unavailable), I get the hind end, with him facing away. No matter how many times I try to turn him around, he inevitably finds a way to have his back towards me. A compromise we agree upon is the sideways sit.

Well, my friends had been doing some reading on cat-behaviour, and it turns out that when a cat sits with his back to you, it means that he trusts you.

So there is that. Perhaps I am not waited for with bated breath, but at least I am trusted.

Happy Saturday to you!
