Much Love Monday : The Happy Bicycle

It’s Monday morning and I hope you’ve had an excellent week-end. I’m starting the week off with a link to Anna’s Much Love Monday, where we “start off each week with some positivity instead of the typical Monday blues”. Click on over using the button at the bottom to see what other bloggers around the world are loving today.

My post features this happy bicycle I saw the other day. I love being in the midst of someone who would have such a bike! Its rainbow fenders and heart seat were such a cheerful sight, not to mention the dangling green pom-poms on its handlebars!

Not to cast a shadow on this declaration of adoration, but I also love the fact that she felt comfortable locking this beauty out there all by itself.

Because bike owners in Toronto are all too aware of a time when our two-wheeled vehicles were very vulnerable if left locked out on the street. That’s because a really bad bike thief was among us, named Igor Kenk. This guy was the mastermind behind a thieving operation that was mindbogglingly massive. When he was arrested in 2008 he had a stash of 3,000 bikes hidden away in various warehouse spaces around the city. He has since gone to jail for 2 1/2 years and almost 600 of the bikes have been returned to their owners. And the streets of Toronto are once again a place where nice bicycles can be locked and left, and expected to be there upon your return.

Wishing you a good Monday, my friends <3loulou[Edit: Links to Much Love Monday have been removed because the site is no longer active.]
