There’s a nightclub that Nick and I have been going to forever, even before we met one another, called The Bovine. Together we have rung in quite a few new years there and it has always been a good time. They do a great job and we are grateful to have it nearby.
This New Year’s Eve 2013, The bands they had on the bill were The Downbelows and The Mahones. Both were really good, keeping the party hopping.
Before and between sets, the resident DJ spun some great old rock/punk tunes. At midnight they treated the entire bar to a shot of Jagermeister!
It was dark in there and I took these next shots without flash, so I lightened them with photoshop.
Then I turned on a low flash for a few …
And I met a new friend there, which is a sweet way to ring in the new year. (Hi M :) We began talking after she cheerfully offered to take a picture of us.
Actually, my favourite picture of the two of us was taken at The Bovine at another New Year’s Eve party. It is a polaroid that a nice guy took for us. Knowing the price of polaroid film, this was a real act of kindness. You can see a scan of that shot here, if you’d like.
Here are some pictures taken outside. Nick wouldn’t stand still for a good shot of his outfit, but I’m sure was secretly pleased after two guys stopped him on the street to tell him how good he looked!
All in all, we had a blast. Perhaps a bit too much of a good time, but hey, you only live once.
I have a NYE outfit post coming tomorrow.
Thanks for dropping over.

Some great shots there. I enjoyed the photos on the other page – although I’ve seen a lot of the band ones before. The one with you two in Black & White outfits looks very “Love Me Nots” (which is no bad thing in my world. And yes, the Polaroid is cute.
Thanks Davey. In the b&w shot were actually dressed for a costume party, although I have worn that dress for non-costume wear also.
Now that’s truly the way to ring in the New Year! You guys are adorable Mine was great but low-key – Japanese at this Fusion Fire restaurant with family and friends. The last photos cracks me up :) Very best wishes in 2013 darling gal! xoxo Marisa

Hey Lola. Maybe we’ve been there at the same time and didn’t know it!
Looks like good fun. I have heard of The Bovine but I can’t remember if we’ve been there. I have such a bad memory! I’m glad you guys had a good time!
Hey Jo. It’s a very unique spot, that you would remember by all the stuff on the walls and ceiling. Almost as though you’re inside a multi-media sculpture. And then there is it’s full-length name, The Bovine Sex Club, that I didn’t write in the article, lest someone think we’re into kinky stuff!
Very fun pics. I love the last one! I wish I could say we were out at such a fun spot, but we did have fun. Spent the evening with another family – one of our favorites, played games with the kids, had a poetry reading, drank lots of champagne, and wrapped at 12:05. It was pretty PG, but it was fun!
That does sound fun. I’m interested to hear about the poetry reading.
