Out to See a Play : Gash

On Sunday, I met up with my friend Meghan and her friend Pamela, (who is now my friend too), and we went to see a play called Gash. This was part of the Toronto SummerWorks Performance Festival. Unfortunately Sunday was the final day of SummerWorks, so it’s too late to see this play as part of the festival, but if you ever see that it is being staged, I’ll say that it’s a fun and engaging show.

It was showing at Theatre Passe Muraille, which is located in a neat historical building erected in 1902. It originally housed a bakery and stables and looks quite different from anything else in the neighbourhood. Pamela and I had the same thought about the place, that we’d both walked by it a hundred times, but neither of us had ever been inside. Now we have. It was converted into a theatre in the 70s, and doesn’t really look all that remarkable inside, but I love the way it looks on the outside.
