A Look at the Jack Lux Vintage Pop-Up Shop and What I Got

There's a new shop in town for vintage clothing lovers, but it's here for a good time, not a long time. Jack Lux Vintage of Montreal, have opened a pop-up shop at 536 Queen Street West, (just west of Portland on the north side), where they will be selling pieces from a collection of vintage clothes they got from the Centre National du Costume.

Fresh Herb Grilled Cheese Sandwich

The reason I grow a wide variety of herbs every summer might be just so I can make these grilled cheese sandwiches! But, don't worry it you don't have all the kinds of fresh herbs because these are very tasty with one or two, whatever you may have or grow yourself. Pretty well any herb would be good, except mint.Of course, you know how to make a grilled cheese sandwich and I don't mean to sound patronizing by telling you how, however, the method of making these is a bit different than what you normally do. This way works well whenever you want to put something more than only cheese in a grilled cheese, such as sliced tomatoes, sliced olives, or fresh herbs.

A Street Festival in Chinatown

We checked out the Toronto Chinatown Festival on Sunday afternoon, and in spite of feeling badly to be Debbie Downer, I have to admit that it was a disappointment, being mostly just a bunch of representatives from the corporate sponsors (car companies, banks, the hydro company) standing under awnings, without much excitement or flair.

I got some decent shots that sort of make it look like it was a good time though, and I could have just kept my mouth shut, but I need to be honest, especially when it might help someone else deciding how to spend their precious summer weekend hours when it rolls around again next year.

Card Making : A Thank You Card with Cut Out Letters

I happened to have some die-cut flowers that I glued on to make the 'o' in 'you' but you can cut that letter out too if you don't.

Lily and the Beetle

First off, if you don't relish close-up images of insects, look away now. And if it's too late, I am sorry.

I have an insect phobia myself. It's a funny one, in that I have no problem looking at them in real-life. But my nocturnal self is terrified of insects. They are a recurring theme of my nightmares, and I awake from those dreams quite shaken up.

When I spotted this bright red insect in the garden, I thought it looked interesting, with its bright shiny red wings, so I snapped a few shots. Later that evening I told Nick about what I'd seen, mentioning that it had been on my lily plant. At the time I had no idea that the only reason it was in our garden at all, was because of that specific plant. Upon looking up the term 'bright red beetle', I immediately found it. This is a Scarlet Lily Beetle, and they live to eat lily plants.
