Saying Yes to Something Different : Going Out to a Bluegrass Concert

Our friend Izzy invited us to a concert last Monday, where a friend of her friend was playing bass. The genre of music was Bluegrass and the bass ended up being the big stand-up kind. While we were unfamiliar with the bands on the bill and it's a type of music that we don't normally listen to, we really like our friend Iz so agreed to join her.

Also another mutual friend Andrea, who we had recently met through Izzy came along to.

It was a perfect summer night, so we walked to and from, winding through lane-ways wherever we could.

The Art of Ai Weiwei at the AGO (and an interesting bit about his love of cats)

As I mentioned on Thursday, here, I went to see the art of Ai Weiwei at the Art Gallery of Ontario last Friday. The show is called 'According to What' and will be in Toronto for a 10 week run ending October 27th. (If you'd like, you can read about this Chinese artist on his Wiki page here.)

To fill you in and account for why these pictures show so few people when the show is sure to be quite crowded for its entire 10 week run, I had the good fortune of going to a dedicated 'members and their guests preview showing' on the first day the exhibit opened here, invited by my friend Meghan.

A nice part about this show is that viewers were allowed to take pictures, so as a Spoiler Alert I should begin by saying that I am posting photos of the art that is on display.

A Visit to the Art Gallery

It was the first day of the Ai Weiwei exhibit, when only members of the gallery and their guests got to have an early viewing of the art. My friend Meghan is the member and I was the fortunate guest.In spite of stopping briefly on the street during the walk over (to get these Street Style shots of a girl wearing an excellent dress) I arrived a bit early. So there was time to snap a few shots in the lobby.

Peaches, Honey and Almonds : Three Easy Recipes

As mentioned here I've seen that honey and peaches go very well together. Today I will add almonds into that mix too.

Did you know that almonds and peaches are in the same plant family? (It's the genus Prunus). So it makes sense that they would taste good together.
