St. Patrick’s Day Decorating : Assembling a Tiered Tray

Hello! I hope you’re doing ok. (Well, I hope you’re doing better than ok, but during these difficult times, ok is perfectly ok!)

Last autumn my friend Leslie offered me a two tiered dessert tray that she wasn’t using anymore. I took her up on it, specifically to try decorating it, something I’d seen done on YouTube.

So, here’s my first try at “Tiered Tray Decorating” — a little something for St. Patrick’s Day. I used things that I had around the house, including an old postcard that I got from Ebay last year.

I recorded a “Decorate With Me” video, if you’d like to see how it came together.

The beautiful tulips were another gift from Leslie. One afternoon last week she phoned and said “look outside your door”. So, I opened the door to find a potted plant wrapped in gift paper sitting on the mat. She’d secretly popped over and left it there and was gone before I saw her.

Inside the charming package, were these tulips, with the buds closed up so tightly that I couldn’t tell what colour they’d be. Over the next few days, they slowly opened to reveal this stunning beauty. A bonus is that, after they’re done flowering inside, I’ll be able to plant the bulbs out in the garden and they’ll (hopefully) make a springtime reappearance for years to come! What a sweet act of kindness from this lovely lady.

Here’s the St. Patrick’s Day “Cross-stitch on Paper” that I made last year. If you’d like to try making one yourself, follow this tutorial!
