Sending Thanks : DIY Thank You Card

    thank you card 11

I'd like to show you the Thank You card I made for my sweet parents-in-law, who live a very long way away from us. At Christmas I received a nice gift from them and wanted to thank them with something beyond a verbal message over the phone, or an e-mail. Being a lover of stationary I appreciate any opportunity to send some snail mail, and in this case I wanted my heart-felt message to be delivered via something I made with my own hands.

Bits and Pieces : December 2011

Here are a some random photos I took during the month of December that didn't really fit into any other post.

New Year’s Eve : The Sadies at The Horseshoe

    Horseshoe NYE 2012 9
Described as “a Garage Country Rockabilly Surf band from Canada”, The Sadies were playing at The Horseshoe Tavern (at Queen St West and Spadina). This was their 11th New Year's Eve party/show at this legendary bar, and we were there to enjoy it, along with our friend George and a whole crowd of others! The Horseshoe has been open since 1947 making it one of Toronto's oldest continuously operating music venue. We had a great time and while it was packed, we lucked out and got our favourite seats in the place. Whenever we go to the there we like to stand behind the sound booth, because there is usually a bit more room back there, and the sight line to the stage is great. As an added bonus tonight, for the second set we were able to nab the two coveted bar stools that were in this spot too! All in all, an excellent way to ring in the new year. Staying up until 5:30 in the morning meant that the year kicked off to a tired foggy beginning, but it was a 'feel good'/ happy beginning!

Eddie Wishes You a Purrrfect NYE

    eddie new years eve 31

Saturday is Caturday! It is New Year's Eve so I helped Eddie pick out a party crown. He decided not to wear either of the choices because they were slipping off. In the end he went for some glittery ribbon curls. Yay Eddie =↑..↑=

EBay Calling : Fire King and Linen Things

    ebay packages1

I received a couple of packages from EBay last week! Here is what I got ...

A set of four vintage Fire King milk-glass custard cups, adorned with blades of wheat. I wanted these because I was becoming a little nervous by the amount of use my treasured (and very rare) set of Duraline bowls of a similar size were getting (see them pictured in this post. Back when I did that post, I said that we used them everyday and I was ok with this, but a girl can change her mind, right?). They were becoming Nick's favourite for all kinds of uses, so I think I'll quietly put the other ones away for 'good' use, and slip these newly acquired ones into the cupboard for everyday use! And these are oven safe and we plan to try making creme caramel in the near future. (cost = $2.99 bid + $13 shipping .. darn Canada Post is sooo expensive!)
